Darrall Macqueen produce pitch-perfect programmes, packed with fun and love, that resonate with children, are the talk of the playground and stay with people right into adulthood.
Billy founded Darrall Macqueen with Maddy Darrall in 2000. Previously he had created and produced the live Saturday morning show Ghost Train (ITV 1989 – 91) and driven localisation of formats (such as Disney’s Roadhog in Europe and South Africa) during his 5 years at Walt Disney Television International, London. Billy has established a strong business and creative reputation for Darrall Macqueen, not just in the UK, but with global distribution partners and international broadcasters.
When Maddy founded Darrall Macqueen with Billy in 2000 their working partnership had already spanned 13 years. Since the company’s launch Maddy has devised, produced and overseen thousands of hours of children’s TV – from live magazine show (Smile) to teen drama (UGetMe) and children’s sitcoms (The Crust and Bear Behaving Badly). In 2008 Maddy focused on devising shows with international appeal, including slapstick animation series (Pet Squad) and award winning multi-media pre-school show Baby Jake. Maddy’s most recent projects have included the award winning CBeebies’ hit pre-school drama Topsy and Tim, and the current re-vision of 120 new episodes of Teletubbies for DHX media, Canada 2015/2017.
Fiona joined Darrall Macqueen in 2001 and is a multi-genre Series Producer who works flat out making our quality shows happen. Fiona was Series Producer on all 71 episodes of Topsy and Tim. She was Series Editor on the Teletubbies re-vision, and works closely with the development team on the start-up of all our new shows.
Julie has worked with Billy and Maddy for over 20 years and is the company’s Head of Production. Julie oversees all personnel, budgets and operations. She really gets under the skin of the creative and technical aspects of making TV, ensuring smooth pre-production, production, post-production and delivery of all our shows.
